چکیده

SPIDER is a network adapter that provides scalable communication support for point-to-point distributed systems. The device exports an eecient interface to the host processor, provides transparent support for dependable , time-constrained communication, and handles packet routing and switching. The communication support provided by SPIDER exploits concurrency between the independent data channels feeding the point-to-point network, and ooers exible and transparent hardware mechanisms. SPIDER allows the host to exercise ne-grain control over its operation, enabling the latter to monitor and innuence data transmission and reception eeciently. In the current implementation , SPIDER interfaces to the Ironics IV-3207, a VMEbus-based 68040 card and will be controlled by x-kernel, a communication executive allowing the exible composition of communication protocols.

Hardware Support for Controlled Interaction of Guaranteed and Best-eeort Communication

Real-time communication typically consists of guaranteed packets that must satisfy their delivery deadlines and best-eeort packets that can tolerate occasional deadline misses for improved average latency. This paper presents hardware techniques for supporting the coexistence of these two traac classes in real-time point-to-point networks. A careful selection of routing and switching techniques...

Architectural Support for Managing Communication in Point-to-Point Distributed Systems

Point-to-point networks provide a natural platform for distributed systems due to their high bandwidth, scalability, and the potential for exploiting communication locality. Managing these networks, however, is complicated by the disparate quality-of-service requirements of distributed applications. Since the various routing and switching schemes are best-suited for diierent classes of traac, t...

QFT Control of a Two-Link Rigid-Flexible Manipulator

This paper evaluates a new and simple controller design method based on QFT (quantitative feedback theory) for a two-link manipulator whose first link is rigid and the second is flexible. A piezoelectric patch is attached to the surface of the flexible link for vibration suppression of it. This system is modeled as a nonlinear multi-input multi-output (MIMO) control systems whose inputs are two...

Cloud manufacturing system

Cloud manufacturing is defined as a relationship between the consumer and a flexible array of production services, managed by an intervening architecture that can match service providers to product and manufacturing processes Cloud manufacturing definitions typically make explicit or imply three groups of actors: consumers, who request and use cloud manufacturing processes; application provider...
